Create meta tags

The information in your page header determines how it appears in search results and when shared. Fill in the fields above and copy the finished code below, with a preview of how Google may display it.

The title, description and preview image of a website are transferred to a source code module.

How it works

Your information will become meta tags

  1. Enter title and description
  2. Check the preview
  3. Add the meta tags to your page header

The essentials

Your title and description decide whether people click your result. Everything else is secondary.

Used for the canonical URL and preview.

Social sharing preview

What WhatsApp, Facebook, LinkedIn and others display when someone shares your link.

1200 × 630 pixels. Some networks will not display smaller images.

Other

The default generates no tag because it is already the normal behaviour.

Still required: Title, Description, Page URL, Preview image.

What is consciously missing

Meta keywords. Google has not used this tag since 2009, and Bing even treats it as a spam signal. Yet many online templates still include it.

Also omitted: revisit-after, Distribution, Ratings and similar tags from the 1990s. No search engine reads them; they simply make the header longer.

What matters

Your title is a promise. “Home” tells visitors very little. What they will find and where you are determines whether they click. Google displays roughly 60 characters before truncating the title.

The description does not affect rankings but it does affect how many people click. If it is missing, Google assembles its own snippet from the page, often from the middle of a sentence.

The preview image needs to be 1200 × 630 pixels. Some networks do not display smaller images; others crop them in the centre. The generated code includes the dimensions so networks can reserve the space and avoid layout shifts.

You create symbols in the Favicon generator ; to check the actual values on your page, use the Website check .
